June 3, 2014 Tuesday Mid Atlantic University

Decided to spend another night here since didn't get a chance to walk around the Elizabeth City and see the sights.  They didn't need us this morning for the "old folks program"  Kathy had checked.  The kids invited us to their prayer time at 900 am which was also reminiscent of old days gone by with the Young Life Camp leaders.  The students went off to do their training and we went to see Elizabeth City, went thru the Albamare Sound Museum which was amazing, had to leave before we got thru it to meet the kids for dinner at the "Seniors By the Sea" luncheon.  They seem to want us to come and listen to two that were giving a talk.  So cool to feel adopted by this group of kids or just southern hospitality in Elizabeth City, N.C.  Curt bid on a knife for Lauren that she had wanted at the silent Auction but was disappointed someone had outbid him at the last moment.  Listen to an older singing group after dinner but no students talking, thought we somehow missed it or they canceled it, we left to see the rest of the museum.  Stopped a bakery and had an ice cream sandwich with what appeared to be Krumkake and ice cream in between.  To our surprise the Krumkake was Annice flavored and was wonderful with the strawberry ice cream in the middle.  Finished the museum and went to the Art studio, then walked over to the City Wharf Park, took a break from the heat and had lots of sweet tea at the local restaurant.  Saw they were starting their summer movie series in the park tonight.  Walked back to the boat, still full from lunch of southern fried chicken, N.C. Barbeque, potatoes and coleslaw and of course choc. cake, we grabbed our lawn chairs, walked back to the park where the movie had already started and parked for an outdoor movie.  Curt bought us popcorn, which was perfect to go with the movie and cool night.  After a sl.rain shower and the movie in black and white called "Hear to Eternity" over we walked back to the boat.  Found the kids in the middle of Capture the Flag on the grounds around the dorm.  They had started about an hour earlier, before we left for the movie we told them we would play thinking the movie would be over by 900.  Watched them finish the game and visiting with a few, we offered late night "boat snack".  They accepted our offer.  Showed them how we figured out how to make pudding in a bowl and eat it with animal crackers.  Pudding mix and milk in a bowl with a tight lid, hold the lid on tight, shake till thick, (each student took their turn shaking) and Cheesecake pudding enjoyed by all in the Gazebo at 1150 pm.  They had 10 min. to get done and back to their dorm before doors locked for the night.  Let them take the animal crackers and bowl of pudding with them, think they liked it, one said it tasted like "cake batter".  Late night again, we went to take our shower in the empty dorm thanks to Kathy giving us a key at 12:30 and decided to sleep on the boat tonight.  Another fun day, we were blessed physically and spiritually by this stop, renewed from our last couple of hard days.
