February 16, 2014 Sunday City of Ft. Myers Yacht Basin

Woke up yesterday to bright sun shiny day, calm waters and warmer.  People leaving after the big day yest.  BeachQuest and Field Trip left early also so didn't get to help them shove off. We did get up at around 8:30, a little late.  Ross and Barb from Attitude Changer stopped by to say Hi and discuss next stop and when we're leaving.  Guess we're both leaving Mon. morning and will catch up at Naples.  We thanked them again for saving our spot last night while we went to get our blanket to set on on the concrete wall to watch the parade.  Lots of high school military marchers, male and female.  Strange to see people sitting on the edge of  the street drinking wine and beer, most people from the boat marina directly behind us.  The word is when you're done with this year long Great Loop trip you need a diet and AA.  I'm beginning to believe that.  Always new restaurants or eateries to try that are the best in the world.  Reminds me of Captain Steve in Greece, every island we went to, it was the best restaurant in Greece.
Got the laundry done, first time I got upset there, a man came in at 9:30 grumbling he couldn't get two washing machines to do his laundry.  A kind older gentleman finishing his.  I made a comment that today must be laundry day since everything was busy since 8 am, the older gentleman said he was waiting at 8 am for them to open the door and I was soon there after with my 3 loads.  While Curt was unloading one washer into the dryer above it, the man opened one of the other washers with my whites, "privates" and was going to unload that, just to help out I guess, but I immediately said no, I have to wash them again.  He glared at me and walked off grumbling. I told him there was one washer he could use but he said I need two.  Soon came back to get started with the one open washer.  Good thing there were two others soon there after and he would have had to wait even longer. Curt and I didn't communicate that he had not put soap in all 3 washers as I thought he had.  So our colors and whites came out very clean after 1 full cycle rinse and 1 full cycle with soap.  Glad it was only a $1.00 to wash each load. I started thinking about him touching my clean clothes, I don't know where his hands have been!  I am not a germaphobic but I don't like someone else touching my underwear especially a man and a strange grumpy one at that!  Hey girls...anyone else on my side?  My dryer was done above his washer and I slowly took clothes out waiting for the colors to get done in 1 minute.  I emptied the dryer, grabbed the clothes out of the washer, turned around to put them in the dryer and he was cleaning the lint catcher.  I not so kindly asked if I could use that dryer.  He said oh sure, I just assumed, but I guess I'm wrong.  After I had the dryer going he said Oh by the way I have a dryer sheet in the bottom of that dryer.  So I dug out the dryer sheet between our clothes and gave it to him.  Thanking him that I don't do well with perfumed clothes, especially when everything is so close on the boat. He mumbled something and put his clothes in a cold dryer.  I left.  I decided I must be very grumpy this morning and just don't "p--- me off"!
The other guys were very nice that came in afterwards.  Men....some do their own laundry for a reason!and other things by themselves for a reason and others are so kind and bashful!   New experiences continue to come.  Guess that is what this trip is all about.
On the brighter side, have clean clothes all packed away, clean boat, full water, gas and groceries.  Ross brought over a motor for a bike and gifted it to us, which was given to him yesterday.  We gave it to Rick since he is so good at fixing things.  Rick, Linda, Nevaeh motor sailed with us back to Bimini Basin, was nice to just sit with Curt and watch the boats go by and rock us.  Thanks Rick for driving, it was great to visit with Rick and Linda, good to sail with others on the boat and share old stories of previous trips.  Nevaeh soon fell asleep, worn out from her 5 mile bike ride with Papa.  She never got rocked off the seat but there were a few times.  Spent a quiet night except for the sprinkler washing the boat everything 30 secs or more.  That is what we get for being lazy and tying to the Dingy Dock instead of anchoring out.
