March 10, 2014 Monday

Our friends on BeachQuest called to see if we wanted to go out to Sombrero Light and go snorkeling.  They had to go out in the ocean to make water so we said of course we would go with them.  Had a great day in the water with a little sunburn in spite of using sunscreen, quickly learned the places we missed like the back of my upper legs!
On the bow of their boat.
Up on the top deck, Mary's driving the boat and I'm helping watch for crab pots to avoid or actually the round Styrofoam balls  floating on top of the water with a rope attached between them and a crab pot on the bottom ocean.  George is down checking on the water maker.
Sombrero light at a distance, boats already there on the mooring balls.

Barricuda watching us

Sargent Majors swimming in front of us in a school
I think this blurry part on the upper right is a jellyfish close up, the parrot fish to the left

Parrot fish

Not sure what the black fish with yellow tail is called

The parrot fish turned sideways to look at us.
Tried doing a video but not sure how to load them on the blog without them constantly going., sorry, anyone have suggestions how to do it better?

The orange bellied fish I just found out is stoplight parrotfish,

Sea Fan Coral and Sea rod or rope sponge

Beautiful sea coral, the light see thru lavendar is the Sea Fan coral

Looking at the water above just below the water level

The bubbles are the jellyfish floating around

Don't just look at the bottom look at the eye starring at you the very top of the picture, whoa not sure which one of us were that close to Mr. Bariccuda.  I did see a big one like this and he turned around stopped and looked at me.  I quickly left, this may be those pictures.

Much more clear in shallow water

I think this yellow fish is called a yellowtail snapper.

Mr. Big Barracuda

Curt under water, I think he's looking around on top of the water.

Another Sea Fan

Got this bigger fish on camera, kept flashing pictures at him and he laid sideways and started floating up closer to me.

When the sun caught his stripes he looked like a neon light glowing in the ocean, he was as enamored with me as I was with him, but when he got too close, I thought maybe he was thinking food, his mouth was puckered up looking ready for something.  I was out of there.

Very interesting dark colored fish with light blue spots.

Just below the water line

So many fish wanting to swim with us:)
