0630 Got off the anchorage and on the way, clear, light wind NE and temp in 60's, nice to have had it cool the last couple of days, almost too cool at night, had to shut up the boat some. Guess our bodies are acclimated to warmer temps.
0700 Back into the ICW now seas less than 1 ft.
0900Stopped at Alligator River Marina for gas after the bridge, ethanol in their gas :) but needed to make sure we had enough since none in Elizabeth City.
0930 Back on the waterway. Water flat! :)making 5.7 kts with jib up
1500 Arrived and docked at the Mid Atlantic Christian University Free dock MM50, decided this would be a better place since bridge doesn't open till after 0900 in the morning and would have to wait if we stayed at the city dock on the other side. After finishing tying up to the dock, a young man came over to visit, found out he and another group of 10 students were training for summer camp leaders in different areas of the eastern coast. Had a good visit with him but he had to go for snack and further training. Curt had talked with "Dan" earlier, the contact for this dock and he was in Arkansas but said he would call the college office and have them get us into the showers and BR. and his wife would come visit when she got back from being out of town later this evening. Soon a young lady from the office came to show us where the showers and BR were. Happy to get a shower after 3 days on the boat we quickly gathered our things and went with her. Stopped at the college library and found out they were having a program for old people tomorrow and we were invited. (we old?) We volunteered to help if they needed help and were to check in at 8:30 in the morning. After the library closed we went back to the boat. On the way Wyant and the other kids came out for a break I suppose, Lauren came over to visit and hear about what we were doing, invited us to dinner with them. After checking with the leader came back and said it was okay, we tried paying for our dinner but they said no. Got to meet all the students, what a wonderful bunch of Christian kids, excited about doing ministry after college in one form or another. Asked if we wanted to join them for a game of Maffia in one of the college dorms that was empty, of course after dark with most of the lights off, I said yes, Curt hesitant but willing. Were instructed to dress in black so not to be seen in the dark. Lauren came to let us know they were starting the game, I dressed in dark clothes went in to hear the rules and how they played the game. Was fun, taking us back to Young Life and Youth Group days. A few had even been a part of Young Life, going to Windy Gap, cool to have Young Life in common. Got to meet Kathy Smith, Dan's wife, wonderful lady, you could tell the kids loved both Dan and Kathy. Kids kept saying we had to meet Dan, sad he would be back till Thursday. Baxter their big loving dog adopted us to and really sucked up our attention, just leaning on our leg or laying down and letting us rub the belly. Neat dog. Gave Lauren and Wyant a tour of the boat, gave them each a tatted Celtic heart, lavender for Lauren and Brown/white Celtic piece that started out as a heart but ended up looking like a flower for Wyant as a blessing for their summer adventure and shared my testimony of how this got started on this trip. Late night playing Maffia, we got killed first game, second game Curt the only one left alive out of the townspeople, third game both of us stayed alive-Townspeople won, Maffia lost. Late night, long day day but really wonderful to hang out here. Kathy made up a dorm room for us which we slept in, nice to be off the boat for one night but missed sleeping in our bed on the boat. Strange. Gave Kathy the last two Celtic Heart tattings, one lavender and one brown and white for her and Dan along with the blessings.
