January 20, 2014, Monday

At. Mile marker 155 tonight.  Good night, slept good except for the rocking from a couple of barges going by.  After coffee and riding some bigger wakes of passing barges (Tows) we shoved off at about 9:30, clear and sunny with light west wind but high humidity, dew soaked.  Raised the jib after stopping at Orange Lake(The Wharf's Marina) for gas and a bathroom break.  Caught up with S/V Minx about noon at Pensacola Outlet.  Talked with them on the radio and Peter said they were anchoring here till 6 pm then going on the Gulf to Panama City because his mast would fit under some of the bridges. Told him we would try to catch up to do the crossing to Tarpon Springs with him.
Continued on the GICW under full sail with SW wind until about 4:30 when we decided to anchor at the Big Sabine Point anchorage located on Santa Rosa Island between Pensacola Beach and Novarre.  On the hook at 5:00pm as the sun set.  Done with dinner at 6:30 and it's pitch black with the wind blowing strong out of the SW.  Anchored using the 15 lb Danforth on 100 feet of rode in 6 ft of water, hope the tide doesn't go down too much or we're beached.  Needed to get in this far to get out of the strong 20-30 knot winds for the night.  At Mile marker 196 tonight.
The marina beside LuLu's and a day picture of LuLu's from the GICW, note dock to tie up to and go into have lunch.

 Pirate ship on dry dock,
Fancy apartments with boat slips just down from The Wharf Marina, interestingly called the Compleat Angler like the bar on Bimini in the Bahamas

Cute little colorful Condos on the beach of the GICW at Pensacola

Going under the bridge around to Pensacola

Under the bridge and say YEAH, it's gonna be warmer, we're in Florida

Good lunch, first on our new cockpit table in sunny Florida

No that is not snow on the beach, amazing white sandy beaches

The lighthouse from the bay at Pennsacola, doesn't look as big as when we climbed up in it at the Naval Base

Sun setting as we're getting into our anchorage thru a narrow, shallow path

On the other side of this beach is the Gulf to the South
 Beautiful colors at Sunset

Red sails at night, sailor's delight

    1. Hey, good to hear from you. We're at Tarpan Springs, neat town, winds and rain since we got here. Thought we could get farther south but weather just not cooperating. Have friends at Dunedin but sounds like they're heading to St. Petersburg if weather clears. Really enjoying the Greek Community here, reminds us of our trip to Greece. Any place we need to stop at on the way down to Ft. Myers, (gotta see places). We need to stop at Venice to see a friend then Ft. Myers. Interested in sailing to the Dry Tortugas? We'll call when we get closer. Wifi hasn't been good so we'll call when at Venice.
