Big Sabine Pt. anchorage, didn't drag too much. Woke up at 3:30 am with
clear skies and no wind, went right back to sleep. 6:30 Woke up again
to overcast, misty, windy West at 15 kts and cool (40"s). Forecast was
for winds out of the NW at 20-30 kts by afternoon. Decided to make a
run for Ft. Walton City Dock. Raised the jib with the motor, went 6.7
to 6.9 kts at times, 30-35 on the scream meter for those of you who have
sailed with us before. Curt had to decrease the motor speed because I
couldn't stand up in the galley to make breakfast. Dumped an 8 ou.
glass of orange juice that was sitting on the counter into the cubby
holes where they dishes were stored. I wasn't a happy camper and
thought Curt was just having a good time seeing how far he could lean
the boat over(heeling is uncomfortable on deck but worse down below). Water was bubbling up in the sink we were heeled so far over.
Finally after he slowed the engine down I was able to pour another glass
of O.J. and make the bagels with cream cheese for breakfast. 11:30
arrived in Ft. Walton City Dock, free with no hookup but that's okay,
we'll be secure in the high wind. Had lunch, walked to the Library then
back to the boat for a 2 hour nap. We've not done that before on this
trip. Nice. Had supper then went to grocery store and exploring the
downtown area.
Cloudy skies in the morning
Neat Sun Rays out of the clouds over Santa Rosa Island
Clouds getting darker, wind picking up
This is the tilt we're on(Check out the O.J. level in the glass after Curt slowed the engine down probably a 15 degree on the scream meter, still up to 20 degrees heeling to starboard.
Dolphins again jumping, see the splash behind us
