May 8, 2014 Thursday Jekyll Island Anchorage

6:30 am Attacked by the No C-ums even with the "No Natz" spray we decided to leave the dock.  Had a good night sleep though.  Clear skies, temps in70's, high humidty, wind light out of SSW.
Off the dock at 7:30,motored up the channel to Jekyll Island Wharf Marina, they said they had no water under their dock so motored back to our anchorage from the night before approx. 1/2 mile, anchored and took the dinghy into Jekyll Island Wharf Marina.  Yes George we used the new dinghy motor.  There was definitely very little water, we tied up on the end of the dock in shallow muddy water out of the way of the tour boats.  Spent the day touring Jekyll Island.  Had breakfast buffet at the Club House, I give it 5 stars for food, service and environment.  Walked around the grounds then decided to take the trolley historical tour which was about 90 minutes, our guide was an old school teacher/principal.  Gave lots of interesting history about the area and got to go into two of the houses, which were beautiful.  Got back to our dinghy around 3 pm, wind had started blowing pretty good, motored about half way back to the boat and the dinghy motor quit.  Tried to paddle but not making headway fast.  One of the tour boats came over and asked if we wanted a tow.  Curt said yes, he took us and the dinghy all the way back to our boat.  Happy to be back and nonworking dinghy motor safely stored in it's spot, we left the anchorage.  Decided not to go to St. Simon's Island with the wind blowing so hard so ended up taking a small channel off the ICW back to Brunswick.  It was called the Back River, was really neat, tide was up and we went scootin thru quickly without problems of low water.  Came out south of Brunswick.  Wind blowing 15 to 20 knots.  Made it safely up the river and decided to  spend the night at New Brunswick Landing Marina.  Arrived at 1900 hrs.  Tied up, had supper, dark and no one around except a gentleman off another boat close to us.  Found out he was from Minn., Minn. and just returned from Bahamas, leaving his boat here for the summer and heading back to Minn. in a couple of days.  Nice to have the air conditioner on once again, was very humid and warm.
