June 29,2014 Sunday Leaving Great Kill Yacht Club Day 253 total miles traveled since Sept 16, 2013--4102 miles

Woke up early getting 8 hrs. of sleep and feeling good.  Cast off at 7:00 am,  weather clear, water like glass and very few boats  out on the water yet.  Temp in the 70's.  Curt reluctantly leaving the marina and heading north thru the busy New York Harbor.
0900-Passed the Verrazano Bridge thru the Narrows the mouth of the Hudson River.  Leaving the Atlantic Ocean for this adventure.  Tide still coming in and light SE wind giving us 5.6 kts
1330-Passing Hook Mountain Yacht Club doing 6.3 kts motor sailing with the jib up.
1730-Motor quit using all the gas in the 6 gallon tank, wind blowing nicely on just the jib with a speed of 3.4 kts jib only so decided to finish that last 3 miles to Cornwall Yacht Club by sale only.  Nice to just sail, quiet and peaceful.
1800-Docked at Cornwall Yacht Cllub just north of Storm King Mountain-65 miles today
Looking back at Verrazano Bridge leading out to the Atlantic Ocean
Coast Guard stopping us again, the girl was from Minneapolis Minn.

  1. So funny - Google makes me write these comments 2 times - I always wonder if they will be repeated!!! Anyway, you are on such an awesome adventure - Do you feel like you're in a dream sometimes? I want to know what you are thinking to top this one?
Your photos are SO good - my only complaint is that you (Marilyn) are always holding the camera, so we rarely see you in the photos - Give the camera to Curt sometimes...I want to see your smiling face more!
    Love to you both,
    Nancy
