March 21, 2014 Friday

Hung around the marina, did some more stitching on the quilt.  Went kayaking today with Mary, what a fun time, went out Sister's channel over by Boot Key and into a tiny channel with Mangroves on both sides, we could hear the tree branches cracking as we went thru, I assumed it was Iguanas jumping thru the trees to get away from us, when we came out an Iguana jumped off a concrete ledge, someone's backyard and came swimming towards us in the water, he was moving pretty fast too.  On our way out we noticed a sign saying beware of crocodiles.  Hmm,  right across was the swimming area for Sombrero Beach, lots of people in the water.  Got to Kayak out in the ocean for awhile and George and Curt came by in the dinghy, were heading for the Yellow Submarine tucked way back thru a narrow channel of Mangrove trees in an old to be fish camp, refuge hideout.  Of course I thought it would be fun to see also and the guys didn't want to wait for us to Kayak back to the boat so they pulled us behind the dinghy, we got quite the looks and definitely got the giggles.  So fun.  Got back to our Marina late and missed happy hour or Key lime pie dessert with Bob and Martha and Carol and Bob.  Apparently repairs got done on Field Trip and they are ready to leave in the morning.

The yellow sail, Jay calls a Geniker, one of the girls in the bosun chair spraying off his sail, it got in the saltwater

Getting pulled back thru the channel, other boaters not impressed

Looked back and went whoa, he was right behind us trying to decide which side to go on.
down the shallow narrow channel of Mangrove trees
If you zoom in there is an Iguana sitting on the top branch out on a limb
 The yellow submarine

Other abandoned boats, not sure how they got in here or how long they've been here, also saw a big airplane fuselage in farther on land and some old houses, a gentleman and his dock walked out matching the environment.  Deliverance????

Back out the channel into the ocean

Coming in past Marathon Marina to Boot Key below
