March 11, 2014 Tuesday Marathon

Curt and I rode our bikes to Marathon City Marina, they had free Yoga in the Pavilion for anyone who wanted to come.  Was a fast 4 mile ride to get there, we seem to doddle the mornings away.  Nice morning anyway with a good breeze while the Yoga class was going on.  1 1/2 hours later I was really relaxed from lying there while she talked us thru the cool down and thanking our muscles for stretching and doing massage to our inner organs.  Was a really good class, she did everything from stretch to balance to eye movements and facial massage to ourselves.  Went with George and Mary in their dinghy out to Jeff and Judy's boat to help them move their boat into Boot Key Harbor on a mooring ball.  Jeff got a new Dinghy motor and the long talked about Dingy Race was on just outside of the west channel leaving Marathon on the ocean side.  A disappointed Jeff with his new motor and a gloating George with 4 people in his dinghy ended the long threat of blowing George's socks off with Jeff's new Dinghy motor.  Boys will be boys and of course girls just gotta go along with it :)  After getting Jeff and Judy in Just Fak'n It settled on their mooring ball we all went to Castaway's for lunch.  They dropped us off at the dinghy dock and Curt and I picked up some supplies for Jeff at the grocery store and met all later at the Dockside for free food, Happy Hour drinks and entertainment.  Sailors aren't the only ones that like free food.  One guy playing an electric violin which was white and in an S shape, rumor was he had studied music at Julliard, the other guy played guitar and both sang.  Not your ordinary beach bar music.  Quite a concert.  We didn't stay for the electric Harp playing though.  Rode our bikes back under the street lights getting back around 10 pm.  Nice day once again with good friends, good people.
While waiting for George at the Dingy Dock 4 Manatees came around, Curt and I finally got to touch them which is a no no, but they were so beautiful as they glided just below the water.

Everyone warning dinghy drivers to watch out for the Manatees, some were careful and just shut their engines off til they were past the Manatees.

We are now seeing Iguanas everywhere, all sizes

Heading out the channel.  Jeff and Judy in the lead getting ready to open up the engine past the sign.

Waves were a little high to be doing this but we held on not to bounce out of the dinghy.
Other big boats coming in didn't seem to squelch the fun even racing thru their big wakes.

Back to Jeff and Judy's boat in the outside anchorage, Gloating George below.

Beautiful sunset in Boot Key Marina with all the sailboat masts sticking up in the color of the sunset.

Missed the sun going down below the horizon but still quite a sight to see over 200 boats on mooring balls in one harbor.
Ahh, another day in paradise.........Thank you Lord!

  1. Vera, March 12 is the day we went to the Turtle Hospital, you might have to click on newer or older post to get there. Heading to Key West, Curt's phone took a dip in salt water, hope to get a new one tomorrow.
